Ever
since Tyler was a kid back home in Kincardine, Ontario,
all he wanted to do was play drums. When he looks
back at the great fun he had following the Saturday
night parades through the streets of his home town,
it would have been impossible to predict what doors
pipe band drumming would open for him.
First
tenor drumming at the age of 11, Tyler played with
Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band under the tuition
of Craig 'Hoss' Colquhoun before joining Milton
Optimist Pipe Band as a snare drummer. Tyler developed
a sound grounding in the mechanics of snare drumming
under the tutelage of Doug Stronach.
Tyler then joined
the 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band as a tenor
drummer in 1995 at the age of 13. While at the Frasers,
Tyler has won three World Best Bass Section Championships
as well as numerous Canadian, United States and
North American Best Bass Section titles. In
solo competition, Tyler has excelled by winning
every top award available in North America.
Tyler
transferred to The House of Edgar Shotts & Dykehead
Pipe Band in 2004, fulfilling a childhood dream
of his to play alongside Drum Major Jim Kilpatrick.
He won the British Drum Corps Championships with
the drum corps in his first season. In 2005, Tyler
helped the band to win the top awards for both band
and drum corps at the World Pipe Band Championships.
Away from the band,
Tyler is a qualified tenor drumming adjudicator
with the PPBSO and regular master class instructor
at workshops throughout North
America,
South America and Europe.
All
of these attributes that Tyler possesses have been
channelled by him into the TyFry™
company. A tireless perfectionist, Tyler personally
ensures that every TyFry™ product is manufactured
and presented to the highest possible standards.
In short, if it's not good enough for Tyler - it's
not good enough for you.
The growth and development of the art form is at
the centre of everything the TyFry™ brand stands
for. Keen to support all things positive about tenor
drumming, TyFry™ is proud to have fulfilled the role of
main sponsor at
prestigious competitions such as MHAF Gold Medal Solo Tenor Drumming
Championship and Drumming for Drinks. |
